Virtual Spirit Week
Published by Lisa Maher on October 8, 2020
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Hello Cashwell Family,

Starting Monday, Oct. 26, until Friday, Oct 30 Cashwell is hosting its own virtual spirit week. This effort is to promote, establish, and maintain positive relationships with our Cashwell Students and their Families. Since Spirit Week is virtual, students will be asked to not only participate during the remote learning sessions by showing their spirit but we are asking our families at home to participate as well.  We are looking for pics and videos to be posted on your student’s Class Dojo Story each day.  There will be a winner chosen each day from every grade-level and announced via Class Dojo School Story.  Each winner will receive a prize.  Click on the link below to see the virtual spirit week activities.

The Pandemic-EBT program, a collaboration between the NC Department of Health and Human Services and the NC Department of Public Instruction, helps families purchase food for children whose access to free and reduced-price meals at school has been impacted by COVID-19.  The program provides benefits on an EBT card that can be used to buy food at authorized retailers, including most major grocery stores.

Eligibility for the fall 2020 P-EBT benefits is different than the eligibility criteria last spring.  For additional information, please click the link below.

CCS Schools Will Operate Under Plan C
Published by Angel Hoggard on July 30, 2020
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Mother and son giving thumbs up in front of deviceThis recommendation came after school officials considered the latest local COVID-19 metrics, stakeholder feedback, CDC recommendations, and guidance from local health officials. Under Plan C, schools throughout the district will begin making strides for students to return to school as follows:

  • August 3 – Cross Creek & Cumberland International Early College High Schools
  • August 12 – Cumberland Polytechnic High School
  • August 17 – Traditional Schools
  • August 17 – Year-Round Schools

All schools will operate under Plan C for at least six weeks, through at least September 25, 2020. All schools will begin operating under Plan B (Blended-Remote and Face-to-Face Learning), beginning no earlier than September 28, 2020, provided the director of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health, Dr. Jennifer Green, confirms that COVID-19 conditions have improved sufficiently in Cumberland County such that Plan B can be safely implemented.
