image of child and parent on laptop device sitting at a tableAs we prepare to return to school in an online environment, every K-12 Cumberland County Schools (CCS) student will need a laptop and internet access in order to complete assignments, participate in instruction, and collaborate and learn with others.

We are asking all families with a student in grades K-12 to fill out a survey indicating device needs for each student, regardless of your school, whether you have applied to the Virtual Academy, whether you have a device or whether you need a device. The survey can be found here: https://bit.ly/CCSDeviceRequest. This short survey will help us better understand the needs of our students and make sure that we are able to meet those needs. Read more

Round Important red stamp with exclamation point in the middleThe Cumberland County Board of Education has approved a waiver of Policy 4316 (Student Dress Code) for the 2020-2021 school year only, as allowed by Policy 2450 (Suspension of Board Policies), due to the financial impact of COVID-19. However, families still have the option to allow students to wear uniforms when Blended-Remote and Face-to-Face Learning is in operation. There will be no consequences imposed upon a student for a uniform violation during the 2020-2021 school year.

Cumberland County Schools’ (CCS) meal sites will temporarily stop service from August 3-14 to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. Meal sites will resume, with added locations and new times to align with the instructional day for students, on August 17, 2020.

Under Plan C, schools throughout the district will begin making strides for students to return to school as follows:

  • August 3 – Cross Creek & Cumberland International Early College High Schools
  • August 12 – Cumberland Polytechnic High School
  • August 17 – Traditional Schools
  • August 17 – Year-Round Schools

All schools will operate under Plan C for at least six weeks, through at least September 25, 2020. All schools will begin operating under Plan B (Blended-Remote and Face-to-Face Learning), beginning no earlier than September 28, 2020, provided the director of the Cumberland County Department of Public Health, Dr. Jennifer Green, confirms that COVID-19 conditions have improved sufficiently in Cumberland County such that Plan B can be safely implemented.
